With the General Search Screen you can find a document by company name, person name , municipality, document type, date range, or any combination of the above. For example, one can find all deeds for John Doe in the municipality of Bristol between November 1, 1997 and July 27, 2004. Most searches are much simpler. The quickest and most direct way to find a document is to search by company name or person name.

HOW TO SEARCH BY COMPANY NAME OR PERSON NAME

ATTENTION!
The system limits the number of name matches to 250. Please be as specific as possible with the name criteria . For example, searching for all people with the last name SMITH will probably exceed this limit and produce an error. However, searching for all people with the last name SMITH and the first name beginning with J (J*) will probably succeed.
Wildcards are permitted in the Company/Last Name and First Name fields.
Supported wildcards: Question mark (? - any character) and asterisk (* - any character string).
Example: L?N* will result in matches such as: LANDEX, LENNON, LENNY, LENTZ, LENDING, LAND, etc.
COMPANY SEARCH
When searching for a company, enter the company's name in the Company/Last Name field. Make sure the First Name field is blank.

PERSON SEARCH
When searching for a person, enter the person's last name in the Company/Last Name field and the person's first name in the First Name field. To find everybody with the same last name, enter an asterisk (*) in the First Name field.

The person's title or last name suffix (e.g. - JR, SR, III, EXECUTOR, etc.) is recorded as part of the first name. Titles and last name suffixes are appended to the end of the first name. In many cases a person may or may not use their middle initial, title, or last name suffix. To ensure finding these matches, follow the first name with an asterisk (e.g. - JOHN*).

IMPORTANT NOTE
Be careful ending the Company/Last Name field with an asterisk (*). The company name or a person's first and last name are stored as one field. The first name is appended to the end of the last name. This makes it difficult to distinguish between companies and people. Searching for a company name with 'BROWN*' will find companies with the name beginning with BROWN and people with the last name beginning with BROWN.
